That's right - think about that letter you and your co-workers received back in July, where the writer kept referring to how rich the Council Rock school district is, and how the North Penn & Central Bucks districts couldn't afford to pay you the same kind of money & benefits that our members employed by Council Rock get.
Why would the writer of that letter be so worried about Local 115? Because she (along with First Student's bosses) know that belonging to Teamsters Local 115 would be the best thing that ever happened to you and your co-workers! She knows that as Teamsters, you & your co-workers would get the VOICE and the VOTE you all so desperately need on your jobs at First Student - and that we would fight to get you the pay & benefits you've earned and deserve, too!
Sure, Council Rock is a rich school district, and we did get the First Student drivers employed by that district a good, family-supporting contract. Yet, even though North Penn & Central Bucks don[t have the same kind of revenue to spend that Council Rock does doesn't mean you & your co-workers can't get a good Teamsters contract too. After all, the school bus drivers in the Bristol & Wyncote school districts have good Local 115 contracts, and these districts aren't as well-off as Council Rock, that's for sure!
Hey, we can't tell the North Penn & Central Bucks districts how to spend their money. What we can do is, once you authorize Local 115 to collectively bargain for you & your co-workers, is sit down and negotiate a good, family-supporting contract. You & your co-workers do the same work as the drivers in Bristol, Wyncote and Council Rock do - you deserve the same family-supporting wages, benefits & working conditions.
